Many years ago, a friend told me that people come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. At the time, I was young and I brushed off this lesson. It’s one that has come back to me time and time again. Each time showing another aspect of the lesson.
Today here in the Northern hemisphere is the Spring Equinox. This in simple terms means that winter is officially over and spring has begun.
Winter is a time of death, endings, and hibernation. In winter we should find stillness and warmth. If we look at nature during this time, what is happening? What do the animals do? The plants? How does the season feel?
I think we can learn many lessons from nature, the most important ones.
This year during my NYE ritual, I had this idea come to me- why the hell am I setting intentions during WINTER!? Winter is not a time for new beginnings or movement. It is a time to reflect, shed, and die. Since then I’ve been leaning more into looking at the actual seasons and the energy they hold.
Today, we enter spring. A time of renewal and rebirth. Just like the snow melts, the weather gets warmer, animals come out of hibernation, and sprouts start poking up through dirt from the seeds we planted- we must also shed and step into the light.
This is the time to set intentions, release what’s not working, and start moving forward. It is the time to let the old you die away and step into the new you with curiosity. To embrace the lessons this version of you must learn. To figure out the dance of what works and what doesn’t. Being okay with things that once fit, felt good, and helped might not do it anymore. You are expanded, and you have more space to fill.
This year, I am trying to move with the actual seasons in hopes of learning how to let the seasons of my life naturally flow with more ease.
I have come to learn that not just people but all things come into our lives for reasons, seasons, or lifetimes. Some things have multiple reasons and show up in different seasons. This is nature. It is our resistance to what naturally happens that creates tension in our lives.
As the seasons shift, so do we. We learn, grow, and expand. Not everyone and everything in our lives can hold us as we do this. We are all doing this at different levels and we must trust that things fall away and die off because we are ready for more. We are ready for different.
I challenge you to reflect. To allow the coming undone into a new you. Accept with gratitude the reasons people and things showed you, the seasons you shared together, and move forward with those lifetime gems.
Those gems that flow with your flow. That expands at the same rate as you. You can always count on those gems to be there, honor you, see you, and support you.
You are not meant to stay small, stuck, and where you are. Letting go is hard and you are meant for so much more. If you’re uncomfortable and things are falling away, allow it. You are expanding and there is different waiting for you.
Lean into acceptance and just surrender.
Resistance to this only creates tension.
Just like in nature, the seasons will change and so will you.
You can make it easy or you can make it hard on yourself.
The choice is yours.
Spring is here, it is time for us to wake up, step up, and figure out who we are and what we want.
I hope you surrender and move through this season with ease. I hope you allow the reasons to come and go and seasons to change as you grow and expand. May this season bring you closer to the sun.
As always, take what resonates and leave the rest.
With love and gratitude,
Sara
